What it does

Microsoft's official MCP server for Playwright. It gives an agent tools to drive a real browser: navigate, click, fill forms, read the page through its accessibility tree, take screenshots and, with optional capabilities, work with network requests, storage, PDFs and test generation.

The README's tool list includes browser_navigate, browser_click, browser_snapshot, browser_fill_form, browser_evaluate, browser_network_requests and browser_file_upload. The server runs the browser headed by default, so the agent's actions are visible while it works.

The README also notes that coding agents may prefer its command-line-plus-skills route over MCP for token efficiency; this page covers the MCP server.

Install

Claude Code (verified against the repo README's Claude Code section):

claude mcp add playwright npx @playwright/mcp@latest

Optional flags documented in the README include --headless and --isolated. The README notes Node.js is required and that browser binaries come from Playwright itself.
