firecrawl/firecrawl-mcp-server — install for MCP clients

github.com/firecrawl/firecrawl-mcp-server · MCP server · web search, scraping, crawling and mapping for agents

What it does

Firecrawl's MCP server gives an agent live access to the web: search for pages, fetch a known page, discover the pages on a site, crawl many pages, and pull structured data out of pages. The README's own guide to picking a tool is plain about which job each tool fits: use firecrawl_scrape when you have a known URL and want its content as markdown or as JSON matching a schema you supply; use firecrawl_map to discover URLs on a site without fetching their content; use firecrawl_crawl when you need content from many pages under a site, bounded by a page limit or path filters; use firecrawl_search when you are starting from a query rather than a URL. The full server lists 27 tools with default settings, including feedback tools; the hosted keyless endpoint exposes only three tools (scrape, search and parse).

Two cost details from the README are worth knowing before you start: search results carry excerpts, and fetching the full text of results in the same call bills each fetched page as a scrape, so the README recommends using excerpts and scraping only the URLs you need. A search costs credits, and sending feedback on a search result refunds part of that cost.

Install

MCP clients, with an API key (verified against the repo README's Installation section): add this to your client's MCP configuration, replacing the placeholder with your Firecrawl API key:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "firecrawl-mcp": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "firecrawl-mcp"],
      "env": {
        "FIRECRAWL_API_KEY": "YOUR-API-KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}

The same section documents a hosted keyless endpoint at https://mcp.firecrawl.dev/v2/mcp (three tools, no API key) and a dedicated search-only endpoint at https://mcp.firecrawl.dev/v2/mcp-search (nine fixed tools, and its search fetches no page content), for trying the server before getting a key.

Trust score: not scored

No score is given for this page. The server source was not fully read in this pass, so a scored review would not be honest. What was checked is listed under Verification below.

Verification

Checked 2026-10-24 against the author's own repository. No install was run and no account was connected for this check.

What was checked: Author README (Installation, hosted and search-only endpoints, tool-choice guide, available-tools sections and configuration) was read from a fresh clone of the repo. Install commands on this page are copied from the README's Installation section.

Limits: Install commands checked against the author README; not executed in this pass. No Firecrawl account was connected, and the server source was not fully read, so no trust score is given. Credit costs are as described in the README; no prices are claimed on this page.
